The Holt Farm — Amazing Raw Milk Variety!
Article by Shawn Dady, September 20, 2012
The absolutely beautiful Holt Farm is located in Hickman County, just across the Lewis County line. It is a gorgeous 47 1/2 acre farm with rolling hills and ponds. They also have a fantastic milking barn with facilities that are crisp and clean.
They milk 5 Jersey cows and have tons of cow shares available.
Daisy (in the pictures) is one of their Jersey cows and she gives a lot of milk. The cows are grass fed in both summer AND winter. They get quite a few high-quality grass products in addition to regular pasture, including timothy hay, alfalfa, and beet pulp. They also gets the hay cut off their own fields in spring and fall.
Daisy is very happy and very spoiled. She is milked twice a day and gets lots of love and care. The boys love her!
The Holt Farm is offering herd shares for their cow share program at $70 to get into the program. This is your portion of the animal, the part you own. The $70 share fee is non-refundable and is a one-time price, not yearly. The delivery price on the milk is $8 per gallon labor for milking. Your share of ownership in the herd is forfeit when you leave the share program.

They are now offering raw goat milk from a herd of Nubians and Alpines. Nubians are a wonderful breed that give 4.6% butterfat in their milk. They are great milking goats. If that’s what you’re looking for you’ve found it at the Holt Farm. It will be $9 for the labor per gallon.
These lovely little heifers in the picture will be growing the herd in year and a half or so and will be giving lots more milk for the Holts.
