Jersey D Farms–Affordable Cow Shares in Maury County
Jersey D Farms is located located in Maury County on Gordon Lawrence Road which is just off Hwy 7, beside the Natchez Trace Parkway. The location is fairly convenient for Thompsons Station, Columbia, Spring Hill, Fairview, Franklin, east Centerville, and Leiper’s Fork residents to come pick up at the farm.
The owners, George and Annette Dodson, bought 50 acres and lease 150 more, so they have plenty of grass to pasture the cows and raise their own hay. It is the farm on where Annette Dodson grew up, so it has been in her family for many years….
Jersey D Farms uses no commerical fertilizer or chemicals on their pastures where the cows roam. They milk all Jersey cows and they use no antibiotics or growth hormones. Their cows are out on grass all the time, and only come in for milking and receive a small amount of grain that is locally mixed with no soy.
They have a Grade A dairy barn with milking machines that are kept clean. They feel that milking with machines helps keep the milk free from any trash that might get in from hand milking.
As soon as the milking is done at the farm, the milk is placed in tightly sealed, tamper proof jugs and put on ice. This is the drop and pickup place for Jersey D Farms – their farm.
George and Annette take pride in having a good, fresh, clean product for you.
Milk can be picked up 7 days a week at any time the farm is open.
They milk so many cows–and do it twice a day–so they can fill any order with a 24 hour notice.
To buy into the herd share, the cost is only $25.00, and that is a one time, non-refundable fee. The labor for milking your share of the herd is $5.00 a gallon for the labor.
As for as the delivery, it may be possible to make a Franklin delivery someday. If the demand is great enough, they will certainly consider it.
Other Products
They have free-range chickens and sell country eggs (when the chicken cooperate with enough eggs). They have both grass-fed or grain fed beef (on the hoof) for sale, and they sell fresh ground, whole hog, pork sausage from our hogs, which are free from antibiotics and growth hormones.
